DetailsThe Dock Wharf, and General Labourers' Union emerged in response to the outbreak of the London Dock Strike in 1889. It was the main union for dockworkers in London, Bristol, Cardiff, and other ports in the south and south-west, and metal workers in South Wales, though commonly known as the Dockers Union. In 1922, it was one of 14 organisations which merged to form the Transport and General Workers Union.
