The 2019 judging panel comprises:

Peter Kimani (Chair) is a journalist and the author of several works of poetry and fiction, most recently, the historical fiction, Dance of the Jakaranda, a New York Times Notable Book of the Year.

Sefi Atta is the author of Everything Good Will Come (reissued by NI’s Myriad imprint in August 2019), News from Home, Swallow, A Bit of Difference, Drama Queen and the forthcoming The Bead Collector (published by Myriad August 2019).

Margie Orford is the author of the internationally acclaimed Clare Hart novels – a literary crime fiction series that explores violence and its effects in South Africa.

Scott Taylor is professor and director of the African Studies Program in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.

Olufemi Terry is a freelance writer, essayist and journalist based in Washington, DC. He is the Sierra-Leone born winner of the 2010 Caine Prize for African Writing.
