The use of cow bone in African jewellery making has a long and rich history, dating back to ancient times when it was believed to symbolise strength and resilience, and is in keeping with the tradition of not wasting any raw materials. The suppliers of this jewellery have 6 grassroot workshops which facilitate rural artisans to make a living to provide for their families, which for many of them this is something they have not been able to do before. They are also dedicated to helping the next generation. To enable them to do this they have set up their own charity which helps fund many schemes set up across Kenyan slums, aimed at empowering youths to reach their full potential and break the cycle of poverty.
